The CW to rebroadcast Moonlight, paired with The Vampire Diaries

Yes, my friends, the rumors are true ~ The CW will be rerunning Moonlight Season One this summer, following repeats of The Vampire Diaries. It begins airing on Thursday, June 3rd, 2010 at 8:00 PM Central Time / 9:00 PM Eastern Time

MOONLIGHT TO SHINE ON THE CW
by CW News

Acclaimed Vampire Series starring Alex O’Loughlin Joins “The Vampire Diaries” On Thursday Nights Beginning June 3

Summer just got a lot scarier on The CW. The network will air the acclaimed drama MOONLIGHT on Thursday nights beginning June 3. MOONLIGHT will air from 9:00-10:00 p.m. ET, following encore episodes of the first season of the The CW’s hit drama, THE VAMPIRE DIARIES.

On MOONLIGHT, Mick St. John (Alex O’Loughlin) is a captivating, charming and immortal private investigator from Los Angeles, who defies the traditional blood-sucking norms of his vampire tendencies by using his wit and powerful supernatural abilities to help the living. In a life-altering twist of fate, Mick was “bitten” 60 years ago by his new bride, the seductive Coraline (Shannyn Sossamon). Forever 30 years of age, Mick’s as handsome and charismatic as the day he was “turned,” and he eschews others of his kind who view humans only as a source of nourishment. With only a handful of like-minded confidantes for company, including the eternally young, wealthy and mischievous Josef (Jason Dohring), a hedge fund trader who relishes his uniqueness, Mick fills his infinite days protecting the living. One night years ago, a single act of kindness changed Mick when he saved a young girl’s life, making him want to be a better vampire. Now their paths cross again and Mick develops a distinctive bond with Beth Turner (Sophia Myles), who has grown into a beautiful, ambitious internet investigative reporter. Reconnecting with her unleashes feelings Mick knows he can’t pursue without ex posing that part of him that would make him a monster in Beth’s eyes. As Mick lives between two realities, fighting his adversaries among the undead and falling in love, he discovers the mysteries and pleasures that a valuable life has to offer.

Video ~ Mick St John & Beth Turner's first kiss

Thinking about the first anniversary of Moonlight's television premiere has brought to mind many of my favorite moments from the show. In this video, we see Mick & Beth's 1st & 2nd kisses. Definitely one of my all time top scenes! When Alex O'Loughlin flashes that incredible smile at the end ~ Oooooooooooo my! Actually, he is mesmerizing through out the entire scene. I remember the impact it had on me while watching the Arrested Development episode (#1x05) last Fall. Still does!

Moonlight Fan Video ~ The Very Thought of You by Billie Holiday

Silvervintage has created a new Moonlight fan video using music by one of my favorite singers.... favorite voices.... Billie Holiday. The clip uses great scenes from the series. I will let Silvervintage describe the idea behind making this particular video ~

Moonlight (Classic Film Style): The Very Thought of You

Moonlight, the old-fashioned way.

We thought we'd try to capture some of the old film style of Moonlight that they liked to show from time to time. We used the main cast, but mostly focused on Mick and Beth.

Song: The Very Thought of You by Billie Holiday

Cast:
Mick St. John: Alex O'Loughlin
Beth Turner: Sophia Myles
Josef Kostan: Jason Dohring
Coraline: Shannyn Sossamon
Sarah Whitley:??? We couldn't find the name of the actress.

Well anyway, we hope you enjoy the video to one of our favorite songs. Besides, who doesn't want to see Mick as the chivalrous vampire?

Moonlight wins Axed Before Its Time category in TV.com awards

In the 2008 TV.com awards, Moonlight won first place in the Axed Before Its Time category. Great job everyone! You made sure our show won :) Journeyman placed second. Las Vegas took third. New Amsterdam was in the fourth & final spot.

Unfortunately, Sophia Myles did not win the Best Fake American Accent award. She came in 2nd place to the winner Battlestar Galactica's Jamie St. John Bamber Griffith. House's Hugh Laurie is 3rd. Ed Westwick, from Gossip Girl, is 4th.

I decided to use one of my fave photos with this post. The gang posed for it when they attended the Moonlight event at the Paley Center. Click on the image above for a larger version of the picture.

Official CBS Moonlight website still available.... for now

I have received several messages from angry fans saying that CBS had taken down Moonlight's official website and message board. Our show's site, photos, wallpapers & forum threads are still there! As I noted in a previous post, videos & clips are no longer available. Now, they removed Moonlight from their list of tv programs in the drop-down selection menu. However, you can get to the page & board by using this direct address......

Never underestimate how protective Moonlight fans are of our show!

I don't know why they didn't chose Alex O'Loughlin for the accent contest. He has such a wonderful voice period, and has played an American numerous times. A friend of mine did not even realize that Alex was Australian until I told her. The TV.com poll definitely favors actors from the UK..... Hugh Laurie, Ed Westwick, Jamie Bamber and Sophia.

Fan Video ~ Kissing You by Des'ree ~ A MickBeth Story

DarkRavyn has created a beautiful fan video dedicated to Mick St John & Beth Turner. As usual, she used some of the most amazing moments from Moonlight to go perfectly with the words & tone of the song.... Kissing You by Des'ree ~ A MickBeth Story. "The ups and downs, the ins and outs, the friendship and romance of Mick and Beth...it all leads to that final moment."

Mick ~ "Blue jeans, white striped shirt, cream jacket."

Beth ~ "What about my shoes?"

Mick ~ "Because I love you"

Kissing..... and then, the door shuts........

SPOILER ~ Recap of Moonlight's season finale ~ Sonata (episode #1x16)

SPOILER ALERT! This is my little recap of Moonlight's season finale tonight ~ Sonata (episode #1x16)

I hope you will bear with me. I'm trying to write my usual episode recap, but I'm a bit upset.

First of all, I must say that I am soooooooooooooooooo glad the feared cliffhanger ending did not happen! When Jason mentioned that in an interview, he must have been referring to the list of Vampires that was mysteriously sent to ADA Talbot.

The producers said Moonlight fans would love the last scene. Very true! Often, fans of beloved, canceled shows are left with nothing but unanswered questions and unfinished storylines. I'm just grateful that we have some closure. However, IF we are fortunate enough to get our show back, they still have amazing stories to tell.

So sweet to see Josef funding a memorial for his Sleeping Beauty. Hearst College ~ funny!

We learn about the willing freshie world. Could Mick have been more uncomfortable when Beth asked how many he has enjoyed over the years?!

Mick and Beth's 4th actual date. I knew it was jinxed as soon as she said it's a date if a dead body is not involved.

Lots of jealousy tonight.... Josef & Simone, Mick & Beth, Emma & Jackson....

Talk about guilty looks as Beth walks in on Josef & Mick sampling Simone's blood. She is confused because feeding was a big deal in the moment she & Mick shared in the desert. Then, Mick says this was no big deal. Of course, there is a difference. Love! He does not have feelings for Simone.

I laughed out loud at this exchange. Beth asks Mick if he is ok after the scuffle during their visit to the frat house. Mick ~ "I just got hit in the face with the sacred ass paddle." Beth ~ "Karma!" *grin*

Side note ~ Is being able to tell someone's blood type by taste a new power he has due to Josef's blood? Previously, he was surprised when Beth revealed her rare type.... even tho he had tasted it already.

Beth & Mick both observed the 150 year marriage that Emma & Jackson shared, yet had different perspectives of what that meant.

I chuckled when Jackson, being the gracious host, brought in the drinks. Blood for himself & Mick. Water for Beth.

As always, LOVED the scenes between Josef & Mick. Discussing his possible beyond freshie relationship with Simone... a human.... Josef ~ "Who doesn't like me? Did she say that?" hehehehehe

The gathering of the major vamps in LA. I smiled thinking that Logan got to meet Josef. Remember how envious he sounded about Mick knowing the richest & most powerful Vampyre?

When Jackson was allowed to have a final moment with Emma, I knew he would not leave her side.

Mick seeing their love led to the final scene between him & Beth. At first, he seems to be doing his usual routine. I had no doubts that he would go back to Beth.

"You want to know what Emma & Jackson made me realize? That you were right. You were right all along. This isn't about being a Vampire or a human. This is about us. How we feel about one another. Right here, right now!"

Their love also influences Beth. She asks Mick what she was wearing the night the met.... well... met again. ;> Of course, he knows. All he had to say was his response to her asking how he remembered. "Because, I love you."

SPOILER ~ Promo photos for Moonlight's season finale ~ Sonata (episode #1x16)

It's bittersweet Moonlight Friday! I really, really hope the ratings tonight are huge. What a perfect way to show CBS the error of their ways! This is what we are fighting for..........

Repost ~

SPOILER PHOTO ALERT!

Promo photos for Moonlight's season finale ~ Sonata (episode #1x16). Mick St John, Josef Kostan & Beth Turner shown at glam party! Don't they look elegant? Beth & Mick dancing together..... Awwwwwww

Nominate Alex O'Loughlin & Sophia Myles for TV's Best Chemistry

Pop Watch Blog, on Entertainment Weekly's site, is asking for nominees who have TV's Best Chemistry. We all know that is definitely Alex O'Loughlin and Sophia Myles. Please, go nominate our Mick & Beth!

Nominees Wanted: TV's Best Chemistry!
by Mandi Bierly

It's been a week since we had an image of Bones' David Boreanaz on PopWatch (and even though Abby West’s Mini TV Watch will post in a few hours, I can’t wait). So, tell us: Can Boreanaz (Special Agent Seeley Booth) and Emily Deschanel (Dr. Temperance Brennan) compete for the title of TV's Best Chemistry? To be clear: "Chemistry" is not limited to "sexual tension" (although I'm willing to bet the clip below, from the Bones pilot, is what scored that series its original pickup). In our book, it also describes the shared sense of timing that makes Calista Flockhart (Kitty McCallister) and Sally Field (Nora Walker) a joy to watch on Brothers & Sisters; that's earned James Spader (Alan Shore) and William Shatner (Denny Crane) each Emmys for Boston Legal. Because we're looking for the best chemistry in TV history, feel free to nominate classic duos like The Dukes of Hazzard's James Best (Sheriff Rosco P. Coltrane) and Sorrell Booke (Boss Hogg). We'll even accept James Best and the basset hound that played Flash, if you can make your argument in 75 words or less...

Nominate away!

The Boston Herald's new interview with Alex O'Loughlin

Kate O'Hare has a wonderful new interview with Alex O'Loughlin in the Boston Herald. I enjoy how Alex can have a manly chat about cars & motorcycles, and then segue right into musings comparing Moonlight to the classics. By the way, I think they should have at least let him take that Audi for a spin around the block. After all, "I'm the lead!" *grin*

Fan video creators.... Sophia may be watching!

For those who have been curious about the sex life of our Vampires, Sophia Myles sneaks in at the end to tell us some facts about that. ;>

The biting truth
Alex O’Loughlin stakes a claim to ‘Moonlight’s’ classical roots
by Kate O'Hare

Australian actor Alex O’Loughlin, star of CBS’ vampire drama “Moonlight” (Fridays at 9 p.m. on WBZ, Ch. 4 in Boston), sat on the set on a March evening at Warner Bros. Studios in Burbank, Calif. - and enjoyed the view.

He wasn’t looking at his co-star, lovely British actress Sophia Myles, who plays his human love interest, Beth.

He was looking at a silver sports car up on a rig for the night’s filming.

“I love the car,” he said. “Oh, my God. I don’t (get to drive it), actually. I would very much like to. It’s an Audi R8. (It’s got) 500 horsepower, turbocharged V-8. It’s pretty fantastic.”

After some further chat about cars and motorcycles (which included a brief primer on Spokey Dokes, apparently a popular bicycle-spoke accessory), the conversation drifted to O’Loughlin’s classical education and what that has to do with playing Mick St. John, a vampire private eye in Los Angeles.

Naming “Hamlet” as his favorite Shakespeare play, O’Loughlin made parallels between Mick and the indecisive Dane.

“There’s absolutely a little Hamlet in Mick. Don’t worry about that. There absolutely is, in the loss of his family, the ‘to be or not to be.’ There’s a lot of Hamlet in there.”

As to who is the equivalent of the ghost of Hamlet’s murdered father, which haunts him in the castle parapets, O’Loughlin suggested Coraline (Shannyn Sossamon), the vampire who seduced the then-human Mick, then turned him into a creature of the night.

“Coraline is the ghost,” he said.

Then he thought of Josef (Jason Dohring), the young-looking but very old vampire who is Mick’s best pal.

“Josef may be Horatio . . . you know what, hey! Josef is not as reflective as Horatio. This is interesting. I wonder if Shakespeare is turning in his grave that we’re drawing conclusions.”

O’Loughlin also linked “Moonlight” to another Shakespeare tragedy.

“I think there’s a lot of ‘Romeo and Juliet’ in it,” he said. “The fans are like, ‘When are Mick and Beth going to (have sex)?’ I’m like, ‘Hang on a minute: It’s going to be another show. It’s really going to shift the dynamic of the show if those two consummate their love at that level.’ ”

He added, “I’m not the showrunner, but I don’t think we’ve earned it yet.”

Fans love the relationship and many of them have made music videos featuring Mick and Beth.

“I’ve seen lots of them on YouTube,” Myles said. “It’s really lovely. . . . When an audience falls in love with a couple, it’s so much more powerful than falling in love with an individual character.”

From “Dracula” to “Angel,” each vampire movie or show re-creates the vampire legend and its rules. “Moonlight” has some rules of its own.

Myles said, “In the makeup van, they’ve got a list of vamp things, and it says, under ‘Sex With Vampires,’ that vampires can have sex and orgasms, but they can’t procreate. So that puts a whole new spin on things. Now that I know that, well, what’s the problem?”

SPOILER ALERT ~ CBS releases more promo photos from Fated to Pretend (episode #1x13)

SPOILER ALERT.... and Major DROOL alert for Moonlight's next new episode! hahaha.....

We must have been really good kids cuz CBS has released more photos from Mick and Beth's beach scene in Fated to Pretend (episode #1x13). After all this time, we get to see our Mick enjoying the sunlight and ocean with an open shirt. *swoon* Worth the wait!

He is still wearing his lovely Fleur De Lis/Fleury Cross necklace. I hope we do get the backstory on Mick's jewelry in a future episode, as Alex mentioned.

Check out that spread of healthy food. Beth is trying to help Mick enjoy his human time.... and apparently doesn't want him to get a pot belly from fried chicken. ;)

The official CBS episode description states "Fated to Pretend--" Still "alive," Mick (right: Alex O'Loughlin.) enjoys what time he has left as a human by repairing his relationship with Beth (left: Sophia Myles), on MOONLIGHT, Friday, April 25 (9:00-10:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network.
